This was a sweet, sad story about a guardian angel and an abused child. For readers interested in this subject, you will enjoy it.

Mary Lou’s work as a guardian angel is often a challenge. Watching over four-year-old Ashley is one of her biggest challenges. The sweet little girl has a mother more interested in herself and making her horrible boyfriend happy than in caring for her defenseless daughter.

While the storyline and characters touched my heart, I found the story dragging me through it. There was almost no dialogue to pull the reader along. I felt the writer had a good idea but needed to hone the writing more.

Juliana Anderson’s story was a very special one, that of a battered and emotionally broken woman. With the help of her sister and her family, Juliana finds her way out of the horrors she’d lived in during her marriage. It could have been a story about a woman who merely survived terrible abuses. Instead it was about that, as well as about a woman who learns to trust again and to allow love to enter her heart when Jonathan comes into her life. He’s a gentle man who sees beyond the scarred woman and loves her.

Rosa’s story is about a gentle young woman born deaf and adopted at birth. She’d been loved all her life by a couple who couldn’t have children of their own. On her 21^st birthday she was kissed by Devon Barnes, the manager of the band entertaining at her party. He hadn’t known she was deaf, but he’d been unable to get her out of his mind from that kiss forward. She’d been at first frightened of him because of the surprise kiss, and then she fell in love with him.

Shani’s story was almost the most touching of them all. She’d suffered losses in her life, learned a heartbreaking truth, and then had an accident that nearly paralyzed her. But through the newer hard times she had the steadfast love of an old family friend, her returned father, and Jake Black, a man who loved her so much he was willing to give up his career and everything else to help her after the accident.

Three heart-grabbing stories all about hope and the importance of it. Have tissues handy when you read this anthology.

Talia Fanetti longs for love and thinks she might have it with Edmund Bartholomew. Yet when they go to meet his parents, she begins to realize that he never really sees her. His life is really about himself. Disappointed that she must call off their engagement she meets his grandmother who speaks of secrets and magical spells.

Blake Redfield wishes for love, too, and has secrets of his own. When he runs into Talia, he realizes his life will take a new turn.

The story was very short, but fairly well developed. The characters were intriguing, but the style could have been smoother. Still, if you want a quick, sweet romantic read with a touch of magic, you will enjoy this story.
